Media Contact: Tropical Fun on the Slopes Brings Out Island Spirit When New Englanders Need it Most Henniker, NH, March 2, 2009 – Pats Peak, New Hampshire’s premier snowsports destination, announces its 18th Annual Hawaiian Weekend Celebration, March 14th and 15th, 2009. Considered one of the best parties in the state, Hawaiian Weekend is a blow-out of spring skiing/riding, tropical decorations, helicopter rides, NASTAR races, Hot Tubs, Rail Jam and Hawaiian Foods. Hawaiian Weekend goes "Caribbean" with the sounds of Jah Spirit Reggae Band in the Sled Pub both Saturday and Sunday. Magic Hat Beer is the sponsor of the Après-Ski Party in the Sled Pub both days, which includes fun raffle prizes. Helicopter Rides are available, weather permitting, for just $20 per ride from 10am to 2pm on Saturday. The NASTAR Race course on the Downdraft trail is open to the public from 11am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday. Hawaiian food luncheon specials are available for purchase in the cafeteria. On Sunday, there is a Man of Steel Rail Jam in Turbulence Park at 1pm. Registration for the Rail Jam is from 10am to 12pm in the Valley Lodge on Sunday morning with a $20 Entry Fee plus at least a Valley Lift Ticket or Pats Peak Season Pass is required; release forms must be signed and ages 17 and under need a parent/guardian signature. An intense spirit of competition between Pats Peak departments to “out-tropic” each other, adds another level of excitement to the weekend. Every year, each department is responsible for outfitting its facilities in outrageous tropical attire. At the end of the day on Sunday, departments square off in an employee snow volleyball tournament. “People are absolutely love all the effort we put into Hawaiian Weekend, and everyone has an incredible time,” says Jim Wall, Director of Services. “Spring is in the air; people are in shorts and flowered shirts and leis; the lodge and slopes are decked out in palm trees; the tropical drinks are flowing and island food is cooking. Our guests feel transported to a tropical island, right at the end of winter when they need it most.” 18th Annual Hawaiian Weekend -- Saturday
