ENHANCED SNOWMAKING CAPABILITIES, NEW TERRAIN PARK GROOMER,
NEW SKI PATROL BUILDING, NEW RENTAL EQUIPMENT AND MORE

PATS PEAK Capital Improvements for the 2010/2011 Season

Henniker, NH, June 24, 2010 PATS PEAK, southern New Hampshire’s favorite mountain, enters into its 48th consecutive ski and snowboard season under the same local family ownership. In order to improve its guests’ experiences, PATS PEAK is investing another $500,000 in capital improvements for the 2010-2011 season. This brings their capital expenditure to an incredible $5.5 million over the last six seasons.

PATS PEAK continues to provide great snowmaking, grooming and guest service to its skiers, snowboarders and snowtubers. Through these efforts PATS PEAK has clearly emerged as the number one destination for skiers and riders in southern NH.

The 2010-2011 season brings with it increased snowmaking capabilities; new terrain park groomer; new flaik GPS technology; new chairs on the valley double chairlift; new rental equipment; new summit Ski Patrol building; new Snowsports School uniforms; new Alpine Training Center deck area; and new Base Lodge carpets. In the fall of 2010, PATS PEAK will be featured in the theatrical release of Cheap Ski Movie, a comedy about the epic quest to find the real meaning of skiing.

Kris Blomback, General Manager, commented, “Every season we identify aspects of our operation that we can improve to give our guests an even better experience at PATS PEAK. We continue to upgrade our snowmaking system to be sure to give our skiers the best snow surface possible. Many of our guests utilize our rental equipment, therefore, every year we upgrade our ski and snowboard rental equipment fleet. Our terrain parks are very popular so we continue to stay on top of the latest groomer technology to provide the best parks possible.”

-Enhanced Snowmaking Capabilities
To enhance the already outstanding 100% state-of-the-art snowmaking coverage, new this year is the addition of energy efficient snow guns including twelve new HKD snowguns and six new fan guns. In addition to the new snowguns, additional snowmaking pipe will be added to the Duster trail for an even faster opening from the summit. This new 10” water line will triple the pumping capacity to the top! Automated snowmaking is also being added to the Twister Trail allowing a fresh coat of snow added nightly to the trail. Every season PATS PEAK strives to be the first ski area in NH to be 100% open. The ability to open terrain quickly is a number one priority. In addition, making snow in the gladed areas continues to set them apart from the competition.

"This summer PATS PEAK will be installing our most advanced automated snowgun technology on the Twister Trail. The Peak will be the first resort in North America to operate our new HKD Auto-Hydrant, which will be coupled to our patented SV-10 Tower Snowgun. This technology uses state of the art software to control the snowguns allowing them react instantly to weather changes that occur in New England. In addition to providing a more reliable surface for the skiers, these automated snowguns are among the most energy efficient snowmakers on the market. We know that PATS PEAK has made the commitment to be the best and this technology will allow them to set the bar even higher. The fully automatic Twister trail will allow them to dust the trail nightly with fresh snow”, said Charles Santry, President of HKD Snowmakers.

-New Snowcat for Terrain Parks
PATS PEAK is excited to have purchased 1 of only 18 New PistenBully 400 ParkBully’s in North America for the 2010-2011 season. The PistenBully 400 ParkBully is the preferred snowcat for building and maintaining the most extreme competition terrain parks. Features like the SwitchBlade with incorporated forks allow for quick movement of features in the park to keep the park fresh and exciting for riders. With a 370 horsepower and over 1200 lbs of torque, the operator has the ability to move mountains of snow farther and faster than ever to create the tabletops, gap jumps, spines, etc. that define a good terrain park. The all new ParkFlex tiller puts a seamless finish on the park so any changes in the terrain or obstacles are clearly visible and skier/rider safety is optimized.

“We at PistenBully are proud to call PATS PEAK a partner in the ski business and excited to put the newest technology in snow grooming on “The Peak” to maintain their three terrain parks", said Josh Nelson, Regional Sales – PistenBully New England.

-Partnering with flaik GPS Technology
New this season, PATS PEAK is partnering with flaik GPS Technology to offer skier/riders a way to capture their on-mountain experience.

The custom-designed flaik tag leverages GPS and GSM cell phone technology to determine the real-time location of the person wearing the tag and transmit that data to a secure web-based application. The flaik tags track every trail & turn as well as their speed, distance, time and vertical feet that day and cumulatively.

This flaik tag provides piece of mind for parents whose children are out on the mountain in lessons or exploring on their own. Students in lessons can track their student progress on the slopes.

After a day on the slopes, skiers/riders can go online to review the data via the “Re-Live Your Day” application and then make plans for their next visit. Rentals are available for only $9.95 per day.

-New wider and more comfortable chairs on the Valley Double Chairlift
This year PATS PEAK is replacing the chairs on the Valley Double Chairlift with new wider and more comfortable chairs designed by CTEC of Salt Lake City.

-Northern New England’s Largest Rental Shop obtains New Rental Equipment
Again this season, the Rental Shop continues to enhance its already impressive rental fleet with 500 new pairs of skis & bindings, 400 new pairs of boots and 100 new snowboards.

Guests receive their gear fast in the state-of-the-art 9,600 square foot Rental Shop; complete with a carpet lift that whisks guests and their equipment up to the slopes.

-New Summit Ski Patrol Building
Construction is set to begin on a new summit Ski Patrol building. The new building will be 16 feet wide by 32 feet long and will have a full concrete walk out basement under it for storage. The new Ski Patrol building will match the construction of the other PATS PEAK buildings. A large deck will also be added to the end of the building.

The PATS PEAK Ski Patrol members are providing the labor, free of charge, as a labor of love. LaValley Building Supply of Newport, NH has donated almost half of the frame materials needed to construct the building.

-New Uniforms For Snowsports School
The PATS PEAK Snowsports School Instructors are “going green” this season as their new Avalanche Ski Wear uniform jackets are green in color. This change will certainly be noticed around the mountain with over 300 ski and snowboard instructors wearing them.

-New Deck for the Alpine Training Center
The Alpine Training Center for racers received a major expansion and makeover last season. The improvements continue for this upcoming season with a new deck area. PATS PEAK continues to prove its determination to be number one in Alpine Racing.

-New Carpets in the Base Lodge
To enhance the guest experience, new carpets have been installed in the base lodge. Not only does this enhance the winter experience but also augments the summer banquet season.

-PATS PEAK to be featured in CHEAP SKI MOVIE
In the fall of 2010, PATS PEAK will be featured in the theatrical release of Cheap Ski Movie, a comedy about the epic quest to find the real meaning of skiing. Our heroes, Jonny and Lou are passionate, dedicated skiers of questionable talent who aspire to cinematic glory. Their dream is to produce a ski and snowboard movie in the genre of the legendary filmmaker, Warren Miller. The problem is that Jonny and Lou are broke, have no equipment, and zero connections or sponsors. But true spirit can never put on hold by a small detail like poverty. Jonny and Lou create life-size, cardboard standups of themselves and send them on a journey across America to make "CHEAP SKI MOVIE."

Their images may be fake, but the places, people, and events are REAL - the core, grassroots, heart of skiing and snowboarding. Appearances in the movie include Billy Kidd, Glen Plake, Gretchen Blieler, Jonny Moseley, Tanner Hall and even himself, Warren Miller, and many more. DVD purchases will be available after the theatrical release in the fall of 2010. Visit www.CheapSkiMovie.com to see a trailer of the movie and more information.
