The X-Country Challenge, part of the Root 66 Series, is a competition held on a circuit course consisting of wooded trails, fields, unpaved roads, obstacles consisting of roots, rocks, streams, steep inclines and descents testing a racer strength and technical ability. The X-Country Challenge will use the same bike race course as the 24.12.6 race.
The X-Country Challenge race consists of a certain number of laps to complete and the winner is the one that completes it in the quickest time. The number of laps is subject to change according to race day weather and course conditions. Final number of laps will be determined by the USAC official on race day.
Root 66 Series: The Premier Northeast Mountain Bike Race Series
The Northeast Root 66 XC Race Series, a series of cross-country mountain bike races held at different venues throughout New England. The series offers fun and competitive mountain bike racing with reasonable entry fees, timely results and series scoring. The series is made up of races presented by racers, their clubs, and bike shops dedicated to quality mountain bike racing throughout New England. Riders of all skill levels and ages are welcome. Corporate groups, school teams and families are encouraged to participate. It is about bikes, friends, fun, food music and more! All participating riders must be licensed by USA Cycling.
A 24-Hour membership is available for $10 per person
for Cat 3 and Cat 2.
ALL Cat 1 and PRO racers MUST have an annual USA Cycling license.

BIKE COURSE IS OPEN FOR RIDING!
The bike course for the 24/12/6 Hours of PATS PEAK and the X-Country Challenge is open for riding! The course begins off the parking lot's west edge by the "Group Shack." ---Please practice common courtesy if a wedding ceremony or other activity is taking place in the Base Area.--- There is no charge to pre-ride the course. All participants and everyone alike are encouraged to ride the course. The course is a technical mix of single track, dirt, logging roads, switchbacks and downhill. The Downhill course is available for pre-riding ONLY on Saturday, June 14 for paid entrants.
